Udora region is located in the northwest of the Komi Republic, in basins of the Mezen and Vashka rivers. Indigenous Komi people make up 40 percent from all the population.
The main riches of the region are forests that make up 90.3% of the whole area. There are 27 types of berries; about 50 species of plants. Elks, bears, martens, deer, muskrats, ermines live in the taiga forests. The rivers are rich with salmon, whitefish, grayling, bream, perch, pike.
