Ust-Vym Region Today
Territory: 4,8 thousand sq.km.
Population: 27, 9 thousand people. (According to Komistat for January 1, 2013)
Ust-Vym region is located in the western part of the Komi Republic . It borders with Knyazhpogost, Udora, Syktyvdin and Arkhangelsk regions. The region was formed in 1929.
Administrative center of the region is the village of Aykino , which is located on the right bank of the Vychegda river in 96 km . from Syktyvkar .
The region is one of the smallest in the Komi Republic.It is very compact, located on the plain, and is covered with mainly mixed forests.
The region has large resources of peat, mineral and fresh underground waters of economic value.
